Due to this misunderstanding of keywords,when building your niche website and further developing your affiliate marketing services it makes sense where possible   to avoid these mistakes and not waste time down the road correcting your keyword mistakes

Of course, you can come back and fix mistakes, but why not get it right the first time?

What is a Keyword and what is Keyword Marketing?

In many cases, a keyword is not a single word. It is more than one word. It's a phrase, a question, a description -- a combination of several words. The whole phrase or combination of words is your keyword.

Think about how you use a search engine. For example, if you're planning a trip to Montreal and need to find an affordable hotel, you don't Google "Montreal" or "Hotels" You put in "Montreal  hotels" "accommodations in Montreal" or "Montreal budget hotel." And if you're building a site about Montreal, then those phrases are the type of keywords you need to use on your hotel pages.

Another example... if your niche is sewing, your site concept might be "sewing" or it might be "learning to sew" but your page keywords will probably be something like "learn to sew," "selecting fabrics" "sewing supplies," and "dealing with fabrics."

All related keyword phrases that fit your site's theme are appropriate for your niche website and keyword marketing

Definitions for Keyword Marketing terms are as follows...

Seedword Keyword
This is a word or phrase you use in Brainstorm It for researching and gathering related keywords for further comparison.

Site Concept Keyword
A keyword that describes in not too broad and not too narrow terms what your site is about. Research is required before elevating any phrase into the very important function of your site concept.

Tier 2 keywords
The function of this type of keyword is to define an area (category) within your site concept with the ability to branch into a collection of tier 3 pages.

Tier 3 keywords
The function of this type of keyword is typically to give specific definition/information related to a category.

Webmasters who use Site Build It  give a priority to their Keywords which were  found in their Master Keyword List from The Brainstorm It TooI.

This process also identifies new keywords for use in “long tails” for content and Tier 3 Pages

Page Keyword (main)

The function of this keyword is to tell the search engines and visitors what the page is about.

The content on the page should be focused on that keyword using only one main keyword per page.

This keyword is important and needs to be inserted in several places on each page.

Page Keywords (secondary)

The function of the secondary keywords is to back up the main keyword. You want to use Brainstorm It to research and select two or three phrases that are related or slight variations of the main keyword.

Anchor Keyword
An Anchor keyword is a keyword you use in a link either by itself as the whole anchor text or with other words to form a sentence

Extra Important Keywords

These low value keywords are the keywords you find in the Master Keyword List  in Brainstorm It that aren't quite good enough to stand in as main or secondary keywords but that were too good to toss away and will add substance to a page or website.

NOTE: When using keywords that are more than three words, Analyze It will pop up with a suggestion that it isn't recommended. However, if you have done your research and know that it is a keyword with good demand and low supply, then ignore Analyze It's suggestion.

The keyword phrase of a tier 2 page doesn't have to be put exactly "as is" onto the navigation bar button. The navigation bar should make it clear what section of the site your visitor is going to. It's there for the visitor, not for the search engine.

Make your navigation bar button something that would make sense to your visitor, even if it means NOT using the actual keyword or keyword phrasE
